Needs Assessment

The movement disorder aspects of cervical dystonia have overshadowed the pain aspects of the condition in the published literature and in the vast majority of educational programs. Most physicians are not aware of the clinically relevant distinctions between botulinum toxins type A and B, and therefore cannot make evidence-based treatment decisions regarding the selection of botulinum toxin. More effective management of pain is currently one of the top priorities of the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and this program will directly address that identified need in this specific group of patients.
